Suburbs

Oak Park Temple is the Jewish home for families across Chicagoland, from the western suburbs into the city.  Approximately 1/3 of Oak Park Temple's members live outside of Oak Park and River Forest, and we offer several opportunities each year for Jewish families to connect with one another in the western suburbs.

Here's what's coming up in 2020.  Contact Rabbi Kirzane at rabbkirzane@oakparktemple.org for details.

Adult Learning: "The Bible: Sacred Scripture and Human Origins"
March 5, 12, 19 @ 7:00 pm
Hinsdale Public Library (20 E Maple St.)

For nearly two centuries, biblical scholars have demonstrated the human origins of the Bible. These discoveries have led many in the modern age to question (or reject) the concept of divinity or sacredness in “scripture.”  Yet Reform Judaism insists that the Bible is holy while accepting its human authorship.

This course will review the basic evidence used to establish the human authorship of the Bible and then explore ways in which modern Jews can continue to understand Torah as sacred truth.

Note: This is a second offering of the same course being taught at OPT on Jan. 15, 22, & Feb. 5.
