Caring Community
Oak Park Temple Caring Community
The Caring Community is an opportunity to strengthen our ties to one another by offering and receiving comfort, support and help.
We are made up of volunteers who are here to assist our Temple members as needed. Our activities include:
- Preparing homes for shiva (bereavement visitations) after a loss.
- Driving people to appointments and to Shabbat Services
- Visiting the sick, sending meals to homes, grocery shopping
- Matching mentors to those going through life changes
You can help us by letting us know when you or someone you know needs help and could benefit from any of these services, and/or by signing up for our volunteer list so you can be notified when help is needed, and then agreeing to help when you are available.
Please email optcaring@gmail.com or call the Temple office at 708-386-3937.
Special Message of Gratitude from the New Caring Community Committee Leaders
We want to extend our thanks to Ali Mandell, Karen Gillett, Maurie Stern and Meg Ross for their years of thoughtful leadership and tireless giving through the Oak Park Caring Committee, Ozerim and more! We greatly appreciate all you have done as well as the honor and trust you have bestowed onto us as the new leaders.

Volunteer:
The Caring Community has been up and running for over a year now. Many services have been provided and we look forward to continuing to reach out and touch the lives of even more folks within our temple family who might need help as well as provide programming to support the work of our volunteers. If you are interested in joining the team, this would be a great time to do so. Please let us know if you would like to provide volunteer services in the areas where we have seen the most demand:
1. Preparing and/or delivering meals
2. Visiting folks at home, in the hospital or in rehab facilities
3. Helping with shivas
4. Running errands
How can we help?
