Since the beginning of Jewish time, dispute has been a sacred art form. How has a culture of dispute animated the spirit of Judaism and the Jewish people, and how do we learn to disagree agreeably, to engage in compassionate dispute? Jan is an associate professor and director of the rabbinical school of HUC-JIR’s Cincinnati campus; he is a former member of Oak Park Temple, where his wife, Lanie Katzew, served as cantor from 1991-1997.
