Film Screening
The Janes is the most recent documentary to highlight the brave activism of a small group of volunteers in Chicago who helped marginalized genders receive illegal abortion services in the 1960s and early 70s. As one review highlights, the efforts of these volunteers created an environment in which “women didn’t need to explain themselves in order to get the help they needed.”
HBO has granted Oak Park Temple rights to screen the film. A pasta dinner will be served during the screening.
