The Bible: Sacred Scripture with Human Origins with Rabbi Kirzane
Wednesdays: Jan. 15, 22, Feb. 5 @ 7:00

We cherish the truths revealed in Torah, God’s ongoing revelation to our people and the record of our people’s ongoing relationship with God.
~From the Statement of Principles for Reform Judaism

For nearly two centuries, biblical scholars have demonstrated the human origins of the Bible.  These discoveries have led many in the modern age to question (or reject) the concept of divinity or sacredness in “scripture.”  Yet Reform Judaism insists that the Bible is holy while accepting its human authorship.

This course will review the basic evidence used to establish the human authorship of the Bible and then explore ways in which modern Jews can continue to understand Torah as sacred truth.
