RAC-IL Call-in Day
Monday, May 20, 2019 • 15 Iyar 5779
All DayOak Park Temple is a partner of RAC-IL, the Illinois branch of the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism. Together, we are launching a campaign to take action on immigrant justice and criminal justice reform.
Join Reform Jews from all around the state to urge our representatives to stand up for our values. If you can commit to a 60-second phone call, please sign up here.
Finally, here is a brief summary of the issues we’re organizing around—visit our website at www.rac.org/illinois for more details:
-
Keep Immigrant Families Together Act (HB 1637) – Forbids Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) from deputizing Illinois law enforcement to serve as ICE agents
-
Rise Act (HB 2691) – Allows state aid for college for Illinois students ineligible to apply for federal funding—see agenda for description of key populations this affects which are in alignment with our priorities of immigrant and racial justice (no additional funding required in budget)
-
Sentencing Reform/Defelonization Act (HB 2291) - Reclassifies small-scale drug possession from felony to misdemeanor offenses for first offenses and people currently serving sentences
