This is a story about the murder of an orthodox Jewish rabbi in Chicago right after the Great Chicago Fire, and how his daughter Rivka defies the strict rules of orthodox behavior in order to help the Irish Detective Hanley, who has his own set of barriers to overcome, (with crooked cops in his precinct), to solve the mystery of who killed her father, and why he was killed.
