Learn to chant Torah with Cantor Green
Torah Cantillation Review Session
Torah is not only a book - it's a song. Preserved from ancient melodies, the notes of Torah cantillation we chant today continue to beautify and enliven our most sacred text.
Take your place in the chain of tradition by learning the fundamentals of Torah chanting with Cantor Green. In ten sessions (five classes and five review sessions), adult learners will attain basic proficiency reading a printed Torah text to determine and sing its proper cantillation (trop).
This class is right for you if you already know how to read Hebrew and would like to deepen your engagement with Torah. Graduates will have the opportunity to chant from the Torah scroll. Note: People of any musical ability can successfully chant Torah
Class will meet with Cantor Green on Saturdays at 7:00, and Berit Engen will conduct review sessions on Tuesdays at 6:00. The first class will be one hour, and subsequent classes will each be for 45 minutes.
Saturdays: Jan. 30 and Feb. 6, 13, 20, 27 @ 7:00-7:45 (except 1/30 until 8pm) And Tuesdays: Feb. 2, 9, 16, 23, and March 2 @ 6:00-6:45
After you register, the Zoom link will be emailed to you. Questions? Contact Cantor Green at cantor@oakparktemple.org.
