5:00 PM - 7:00 PMOct 7th Survivor Speaks
A joint program with OPT and Temple Har Zion
Our speaker is Gal Cohen-Solal, a 38-year-old father of three from Kibbutz Re’im, the location of the Nova Music Festival. On October 7th, 2023, Gal and his family endured a harrowing 30 hours hiding in their safe room while terrorists attacked their home, sprayed bullets through windows, and used their driveway as a base. Gal recounts these hours in vivid detail, including the heart-wrenching moments when he had to physically muffle his youngest son’s cries to keep them hidden.
Gal’s presentation is both an emotional account of survival and a meticulously detailed explanation of how the massacre unfolded around them, supported by maps, security footage, and personal stories of his neighbors. He also honors the bravery of his cousin, a rising Eurovision star who joined the fight in Gaza after October 7th and died heroically in a maneuver to minimize civilian casualties.
Over the past year, Gal has spoken at dozens of universities, synagogues, churches, and federations across the country. This will be his third time traveling across the country with us.
