Jeffrey Stackert is a Professor of Hebrew Bible at the University of Chicago, where he teaches in the Divinity School, the Center for Jewish Studies, the Classics Department and the Department of Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations. His work situates the Hebrew Bible in the context of the larger ancient Near Eastern world in which it was composed. His research focuses especially on the composition of the Pentateuch, ancient Near Eastern prophecy, cultic texts, and ancient Near Eastern law. He is the author of Rewriting the Torah: Literary Revision in Deuteronomy and the Holiness Legislation (Mohr Siebeck, 2007), A Prophet Like Moses: Prophecy, Law, and Israelite Religion (Oxford University Press, 2014), and Deuteronomy and the Pentateuch (Anchor Yale Bible Reference Library, 2022).
