Today was all about Shmiat HaOzen - Attentiveness and Shomrei Ad-
amah--“protecting the earth.” We, as human beings living on earth, have an obligation to take care of it and treat it with respect. This means that we
were made to be the leaders of every living thing on this planet, and with
leadership comes responsibility. Our responsibility is to keep our home
safe and to help it survive. So although it takes a little more work, we have
to try to protect the earth, not damage it.We read “Little Cloud” by Eric Carle and talked about being attentive and making observations--the sky, the clouds, the earth, the garden. We then
walked through the garden and observed what was there. We smelled
fennel, thyme and mint, we saw colors, textures, we saw 3 caterpillars!
Then we dug in--harvesting tomatoes, beans, carrots, parsley and pickling
cucumbers.
