Town Hall Meeting
Wednesday, November 14, 2018 • 6 Kislev 5779
7:00 PM - 8:30 PMIn light of last week’s tragic events, OPT leadership is taking a closer look at the security measures we have in place. The safety of our congregation is paramount. We are also mindful of the importance of balancing safety and our temple’s commitment to being a warm and welcoming place. As I reported last year, JUF, Homeland Security, ADL, and Oak Park Police performed security audits of our facilities. They helped to craft security protocols including various safety plans which are currently in place within the religious school, preschool and office. At that time, we upgraded our entry system, intercoms and security cameras funded partly through a Jewish United Fund security grant. We have a great relationship with the Oak Park Police department. Last Sunday, the police department sent two officers to guard our doors. They have stepped up their patrols and presence around our building.
The board wants to hear your safety concerns, so to begin the conversation we have scheduled a town hall meeting on Wednesday November 14 at 7pm. A representative from the Oak Park Police department will be present. If you can’t make it or want to share your comments privately please email any concerns or comments to me at president@oakparktemple.com and I will pass them along to the board.
In the meantime, please know that our doors will remain locked at all times.
