Amy Stoken, Regional Director, of AJC Chicago

Amy Stoken is a native of the North Shore. After earning her undergraduate degree at Eckerd College in Florida, Amy moved to Washington, D.C. where she received a Master’s Degree in Public Policy from George Washington University and a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center. During her legal career, Amy worked as an Aide in the U.S. Supreme Court and practiced in the litigation departments of two international law firms. After Amy’s first trip to Israel in 2006, she returned as a volunteer to assist individuals making Aliyah. She returned from Israel and joined the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) as the Chicago Area Director, where she was responsible for local AIPAC activity and activism. After over six years in that capacity, Amy joined the American Jewish Committee (AJC) as Regional Director. At AJC, Amy directs the organization’s regional efforts including overseeing advocacy with diplomats and faith-based leaders visiting or stationed in the area. Since joining AJC, Amy was selected as one of Chicago’s “Emerging Leaders” by the Chicago Council on Global Affairs and was honored as the Shomrim Society’s 2017 “Person of the Year.” She has appeared on NBC, CBS and Univision commenting on local anti-Semitism and was interviewed on Politics Tonight. Most recently, she was quoted in CNN.com, the Washington Post, and Times of Israel among other publications, speaking out against hate crimes after the Chicago Loop Synagogue was vandalized.

AJC (American Jewish Committee) advocates around the globe to enhance the safety and security of Israel and the Jewish people and Israel and to promote human rights and democratic values for all.
