More than Rainbows: Nurturing LGBTQ+ Children

10:00 AM - 11:30 AMMore Than Rainbows: Nurturing LGBTQ+ Children in Jewish Spaces, Part II
Cultivating LGBTQ+ Joy Through Jewish Ritual
For parents and community members raising and interacting with children and teens in 2025, it is vital to have the tools to support youth of all gender identities and sexual orientations. With twenty percent of Gen Alpha kids identifying as LGBTQ+ in a country becoming increasingly hostile to their existence, the adults in their lives can be vital sources of allyship and support. In this session, we will:
- Identify a framework for building towards LGBTQ+ equality and belonging through Jewish ritual.
- Learn tools to effectively create LGBTQ-affirming rituals, taking care to involve young people in decision-making.
- Center LGBTQ+ joy and resilience as tools to meet the current moment.
Note: This session will build on Part I, and will assume prior knowledge of LGBTQ+ terms and concepts. We encourage you to watch this short series of videos to familiarize yourself with Keshet’s approach to understanding these terms and concepts, and to working for belonging in a Jewish context. We also encourage you to review the slides from Part I, and to reach out with any questions in advance of Part II. Looking forward to continued learning together!
